March is known for its dual nature. The old saying that it comes in like a lion and out like a lamb speaks to the belief that the beginning of March and end of March feel like different months. The beginning can seem ferocious and scary but by the end of the 31-day month, the peace and joy of the spring season blooms in flowers and faces.

We certainly hope that is the case for everyone who is suffering and frightened in the path of the Ukraine conflict. May there be a peaceful resolution and may March bring on talks that can help resolve matters quickly and with little bloodshed.

Spring is also a season of growth. We’ll move our clocks forward, have more daylight, and perhaps continue to progress toward goals set pre-COVID or you may have completely new ones in place for your business. As recovery advances, we are here to support you.

The Chamber is hosting the State of the City on April 7th. This is the first time that the Chamber will be hosting the informational event. Mayor Ashcraft and department heads will detail current programs and goals for the future. This event provides the necessary information to help plan for your business’ future growth this spring and beyond.

The State of the City event ties together information from all areas of Alameda’s economy and municipal departments in a digestible (and fun!) way. We urge you to join us and your fellow residents for this critical opportunity for your business.

I look forward to seeing you out and about as spring erupts around Alameda and hope you’ll join us for the State of the City next month.
