What an auspicious occasion this month is!

There are several celebrations and days of recognition I want to join with you in bringing attention to. Today, is the beginning of the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Tiger (more specifically, the water tiger, which only happens every 60 years). The New Year is one of the most celebrated events in Asian cultures, horning the harvest and ancestors.

The water tiger is action-oriented. It represents a year of strength and bravery. COVID has certainly called upon us to dig deep over the past two years and I hope that the water tiger will help us see the payoffs to our strength and hard work.

February is also Black History Month. Black History month celebrates the many achievements made by African Americans and the role they played in the history and formation of our country. In 1976, President Gerald Ford designated the month of February as Black History Month when he called upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” Since then, every US president has made the same designation.

Black History Month, like the Lunar New Year, speaks to strength and bravery. February is certainly a good time for reflection and celebration.

Speaking of a new beginning, we also rearranged our newsletter slightly. Now you will find all the webinars, COVID resources, and events listed in the same area regardless of the sponsor. We hope this little change makes a big impact on helping you find and access the resources you need.

As we begin anew, we join with all of you who are celebrating February and the many contributions of those who have come before us.
